When I started photographing weddings in 2003, I was thrilled to be using the Canon 10D (oh my). From that date, through 2010, I was exclusively Canon (5D MKII at this point). In April of 2010, I decided to sell all of my Canon gear and switch to Nikon. In the video below, I explain why.

I am facing this dilemma right now. I shot a wedding where the second shooter used a Nikon D5300 and I used a Canon T1i. Granted these are not professional grade cameras but the quality of the Nikon photos blew my mind. I used to use a Nikon N65 35mm camera and the photos were beautiful with that. Granted, I’m happy with the photos I have taken but I’m at a point where I need to upgrade and I’m thinking seriously on going the Nikon route. I don’t have the money to invest in the D700/800 so I’m currently looking at the D7100. Any thoughts? This video truly confirmed my choice. Thank you!!
Hi Vera! I have limited experience with the D7100, but it seems like a decent camera. Have you considered the D610? It’s a full frame camera and you really can’t beat the price. See here: https://astore.amazon.com/weddbyheat-20/detail/B00FOTF8M2
