This image was taken on January 9th at 5:19pm and shot indoors – it was dusk outside, so we decided to photograph the couple inside of their gorgeous church! Using a single focus point, I focused on their faces.

This photo was actually a lot more interesting to shoot than it may seem! I knew that I wanted the church to be a bit more illuminated than it was in person, because it was sunset outside. I had Melissa (my partner photographer) upstairs in the balcony with my Profoto B2. The Profoto was gelled with a tungsten gel because the church lights were that orange glow. The while balance looks really off in the initial photo for this reason, but that’s on purpose, as I ususally adjust white balance in Lightroom after shooting instead of in-camera. Since I had the transmitter on my camera and only one B2, I knew that Carolyn + Stephen needed to be lit with natural light, so that’s why my ISO is so high. The pop of flash on the balcony area adds a little something extra to the photo that wasn’t there with the original setting.

Below is the original and edited versions, all editing in Lightroom. Sent to ShootDotEdit for color correction. Applied noise reduction, sharpening, lens correction, contrast preset to it afterwards + minor cropping.
