This image was taken on February 7th at 4:30pm. It was a nice day in Pittsburgh, about 70 degrees, sunny, and a quiet Sunday evening. Using a single focus point, I focused on their faces and then recomposed.
I look for long lines and simple foregrounds. I try to look for locations that coordinate colors and textures with the subjects clothing. I use shallow depth of field and zoom in for that creamy bokeh background.
Below is the original and edited versions, I edit first in LR to fix exposure issues, color correct, sharpen, and straighten/crop. I then bring in to Photoshop to remove items I did not want distracting from the subjects. I finish with some of my favorite actions by Greater than Gatsby.
